Treating PTSD with Stellate Ganglion Block via TMS Neuromodulation
Principal Investigator: Dr. Yosef Berlow
Disease: PTSD
Research Description: There is an urgent need for new therapeutic approaches to treat patients with PTSD, as current treatment options often fail to alleviate symptoms for many. This Phase IIA, multi-arm, placebo-controlled trial is testing a neuromodulation method, applying a transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) device to the peripheral nervous tissue of the stellate ganglion in a noninvasive manner to reduce PTSD symptoms in veterans. The team is assessing both clinical outcomes of this approach and objective biomarkers. If successful, this treatment could improve the quality of life for those affected by PTSD.
