Event: Best Practices in Engaging Community Health Organizations in Clinical Trials

Our virtual Fall 2024 event!

Best Practices in Engaging Community Health Organizations in Clinical Trials

October 28 from 5:30pm – 6:45pm ET

Don’t underestimate the value of community health organizations to support screening and enrollment opportunities for active clinical trials with sites nearby. This event will discuss best practices when engaging local hospitals, community health centers, rural health clinics (RHCs), federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) and other community health organizations trusted by patients yet often do not know of or participate in clinical trials. Speakers (representing community health organizations, patients, industry, PIs and others) will focus on how PIs and the clinical trial team can ‘expand the table’ to include, encourage, and enable community health organizations as collaborators in clinical trials.

Topics will include:

  • How to approach community health organizations about a future or ongoing clinical trial or for post-trial dissemination
  • Messaging the benefits and opportunities for the community health organization as a collaborator – what’s in it for them
  • How to connect and succeed with community health organizations when they aren’t part of your institution’s system
  • How remote / decentralized clinical trial strategies could be used at community health organizations
  • Building long-term partnerships with community health organizations that aren’t just transactional
  • Q&A Session
Moderator: Tammy Collins, Program Officer, Burroughs Wellcome Fund
Speakers:
  • Abiola Ibraheem, University of Illinois Chicago (clinical researcher perspective)
  • Anne Marie McKenzie-Brown, Emory University (clinical researcher perspective)
  • Beth Tumiel, Erie Family Health Centers (community health center perspective)
